Cutting Edge Scale Models is proud to offer an extremely accurate rendition of the SOUTHERN PACIFIC AND UNION PACIFIC Tractive Effort Booster Unit in N scale. This model features crisp detail and smooth running.
The Southern Pacific built a total of thirteen Tractive Effort Booster Units from old, retired U25B cores. These unique units siphoned electrical power from mother units (SP GP40-2 or SSW GP40R) to power their four traction motors, increasing torque. This configuration was perfect for switching, as high torque and low speeds are the most efficient.
