The 1,000 hp EMD SW1001 was constructed as a variant of the SW1000 with a lower platform, lower profile (and lengthened) cab, and a raised hood. Well over 200 units were constructed, the popular model being exported to Korea, Canada, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Great Britain, and Mexico.

 

Reading purchased 25 of these units for use in switching its customers' plants with tighter clearances. The units later became conrail and are now serving CSX and NS in various capacities and paint schemes.

 

Model Description:

Three dimensional engineering models were accurately designed from blueprints, and we used thousands of photos to ensure the correct placement. The flexibility of out decoration process has allowed us to copy nearly every detail variation. The model EMD SW1001 has set a new standard in detail and quality for future releases from CESM.

 

We loaded the model with details never before seen in N scale locomotive releases - scale size handrails, separately applied brass detail parts, and even a fan visible behind the grille and radiator shutters!
