Southern Pacific TEBU

Cutting Edge Scale Models is proud to offer an extremely accurate rendition of the Southern Pacific Tractive Effort Booster Unit in N scale. This model features crisp detail, smooth running, and crisp paint. 

 

The Southern Pacific built a total of thirteen Tractive Effort Booster Units from old, retired U25B cores. These unique units siphoned electrical power from mother units (SP GP40-2 or SSW GP40R) to power their four traction motors, increasing torque. This configuration was perfect for switching, as high torque and low speeds are the most efficient. 

 

Our kit allows you to convert an Atlas B23-7 into an amazingly detailed rendition of the TEBU. The kit all of the parts that you need to build one, with the exception of the following:

 

• Paint (Tru-Color SP Scarlet Red)

• Paint (Tru-Color SP Lark Dark Grey)

• Decals (Microscale 60-177 or 60-620)

• Atlas B23-7 Mechanism (Available Below)

• TCS M4 Decoder (Optional, Available Below)

 

The TEBU is offered both as a kit form and as a Ready-To-Run Unit. Below are some of the options and add-ons.

 

The Ready-to-Run Units already include a mechanism; you can add DCC. If you purchase DCC with a RTR unit, it will be installed in the TEBU free of charge. 

 

The kits do not include a mechanism; you can add the mechanism and/or the decoder, these will come with the kit.
